In 2003 approximately 4 million Americans reported to have used heroin at some point in their life and heroin accounted for 14% of all drug related emergency room visits. Harm Reduction in Heroin Use is a series of fact sheets that provide information to users on how to minimize the harmful effects of heroin while using. The fact sheets cover withdrawal, nutrition, overdose, drug interactions, and abcess and vein care.
